Some thoughts as I've played through the game:
- It's a little awkward to turn when the mouse keeps moving out of the window. If feasible, I'd suggest either using a "relative" mouse-mode (if the engine provides one), or warping the mouse to the centre of the view on each update (after using its position to rotate the player).
- The start is intriguing: the initially-empty mirror, the thing in the tree, the offer, the slowly-building reflection.
- And now I'm in a strange place, with other people; I am liking the weirdness of this!
- Alas, I then fell through the floor somehow. :/
- Having restarted the game, I've gotten a little further. I've discovered that I can "become" other people, playing out their experiences--experiences that seem to affect each other.
- However... the control issues--in particular the above-mentioned mouse problem and the fear of falling out of the world--are really hampering my ability to explore, and to enjoy the game.
So, for now I'm going to leave my playing of it here.
That said, I'm interested in what you're making here, I do think. ^_^
it's a great game i have not finished it but i liked it, one thing you could change is the cabin i was confused as what to do there.
Again - looking for feedback. There are a lot of views to the page and I haven't heard from many people. Please tell me about your experiences or how far you get before you stop.
For example, I'm wondering if people need a sign at the very beginning that says "Please explore the immediate area by pressing WASD or the arrow keys."
Would that help? Again, any feedback is helpful. There is no bad feedback.
I'm getting a little nervous. The number of views to this page seems high, but no one is commenting or saying they've tried it. I know it's a little buggy and non-traditional, but hope it's not so frustrating that people quit.
If you did quit - please let me know.
I made a walkthrough here - 20 minutes, no edits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66nWkOOqxGw&feature=youtu.be
Hi! I like the idea - non-traditional can be fun! I don't think the idea can overcome the difficulty of not being able to really turn or walk around easily enough, though. It also took me a bit to figure out I could click on the sign to "become someone else" - it didn't have a yes or no like the first sign. I ended up literally running off a cliff and getting stuck in limbo. I gardened and figured out the next few steps based on the hint sign and such, but it just got too frustrating. I wish I could say, "no, I loved it!", because the if I didn't have such struggles just getting around and interacting with things, I think it would be pretty great! Please keep making things!
KyleneK- Thank you for the feedback!! That's great insight on the sign (being clickable).
This also tips the scales that we need to ask someone for help with the colliders around the basket. It should be that you just click the fruit, then click the basket ... but instead it's really glitchy and you have to follow the cheat guide and click in an exact spot. Reading your feedback and working with another game tester, I'm seeing this is a dealbreaker and we have to go back to the drawing board and fix. We don't know why the collider is behaving that way.
And that's why we playtest! So thank you! I will work on finding help and trying to fix it again.
